They always have. Because of the things they do when they start, is - they expose the political corruption that already exists and benefits the establishment to voters.
People can see this and know this now.
And the political revolution Bernie Sanders calls for is just that - something that will only unfold if people really step up and demand it of their elected officials and candidates running for office.
So while he can choose to continue participating in the Democratic Primaries (regardless of how corrupt they really are, and tilted towards the establishment candidate, namely Hillary Clinton), at the end of the day, if the revolution calls for him to be independent, the numbers indicate, he can win and should.
