Well heading up to see family.

There's always some cost with doing that.

But it'll be nice to get away from some things around here,  even for a short while.

So far I've managed to survive two overnight releases.

As well as many late evenings, early mornings, meetings that are driven by people with no sense of time, or any self-awareness, or run by all-and-out bullies.

It's a reminder that work (just like every other hierarchical structure) I've encountered is typically psychopathic in nature, and resorts to exerting some force of various kinds to get its owners' way.

In these situations, it's important to not lose my shit, think carefully about what comes out of my mouth before saying it, be reminded that one is being watched at all times, and do one's work honestly and to the best of one's ability.

Hey Hampton at Hilton ...

... when I decide which hotel to stay at during my next vacation,  it won't be with your corporation due to your manhate ad I saw while watching a hockey game.

The beginning of yet another fun week at work.

I feel like every time I arrive there (we're supposed to be there more than few times a week, and we're tracked for attendance, like school kids), I have a target on my back and every person is after me for things that aren't done.

Never mind the fact that all of this is part of a an effort that's supposed to launch in the not-too-distant future, 'or else'.

Yeah - as if I don't have enough problems - I'm also working next week Saturday (my day job),

Hooray.

It does make me wonder how much longer I can last in this business.

Oh what a great start to the day.

I get up at 4 AM.

I leave the house and arrive at the bus stop. The bus for 5:14 doesn't arrive. Instead, a bus arrives a minute later, except it's the next one (only I don't know this) and the surly driver just tells me to get in and 'enjoy the free ride'. He wouldn't answer if his bus was the 5:14 one

No longer than one minute later, the bus that was supposed to be there at 5:14, drives right on by. I try to run out of the bus I'm in, but it's too late. That bus already turned the corner of the intersection, and left.

Only then does this driver tell me his is the next one.

And of course, everyone else who's waiting for that 5:14 bus at other stops - they'll get to the train station on time and catch their train. Only I will miss it.

And the best parts of this story -

1. I am still sitting on this next bus, and it hasn't even left yet.
2. The day of flubbing things up at work, hasn't started yet.

Why am I capturing all of this - is it to whine or complain or be a martyr or gain sympathy?

No. It's none of those things.

It's a reminder that my life is a set of choices, and ultimately it's me that's responsible and accountable for both that, and the consequences.  The best one can do is understand, learn from it, hope one survives, and get on with the day at hand.

Just another Moron Monday.

I drive 30-40 miles (one way) early to avoid traffic, only to catch up on all the things I haven't done over the weekend, or last night.

Joy.

Starting my last vacation of this fiscal year.

Somehow I don't find myself celebrating much.

That being said, there are no vacations this year. So I have to make the most by doing some things for the family.

A ballgame. Perhaps some day trips here and there. We'll see.

My newest favorite map.
