Military spending - America's biggest scam.

So asserts Ted Rall.

http://www.smirkingchimp.com/thread/ted-rall/73136/military-spending-is-the-biggest-scam-in-american-politics

"The U.S. accounts for less than 5% of the world’s population. We account for 37% of military spending worldwide, equal to the next seven countries (China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the United Kingdom, India, France, Japan) combined. (And the U.S. sells a lot of hardware to most of those countries.)"

Bravery and courage can be very dangerous in this day and age.

After all, look what Wikileaks has done -

"In the U.S. government’s continued legal pursuit of WikiLeaks, there is much more at stake than what happens to Julian Assange. There are principles of press freedoms and the public’s right to know. By publishing documents revealing evidence of U.S. war crimes, emails relevant to the U.S. presidential election and proof of CIA malfeasance, Assange did what journalists are supposed to do – inform the people about newsworthy topics and reveal abuses that powerful forces want concealed."

What has it cost Assange?

"Nearly five years ago, Ecuador granted WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange political asylum at its London embassy. The original purpose of the asylum was to avoid extradition to the United States. Two years earlier, Swedish authorities had launched an investigation of Assange for sexual assault. Sweden has now dropped that investigation."

'The Resistance' => cash grab

Count me out.

You won't get so much as a penny from me.

Your so-called resistance is about what - getting rid of Trump? What will that really accomplish?
  • Pence would take over
  • Lots of dough flowing into various coffers, including those of the Democratic Party from people who otherwise need the money but will be duped.
It's clear to me now that 'losing' an election is a profitable venture for a lot of people and lot of corporations. But it has no value to anyone who's not the 1%.

Honestly, I'm not one to want to make a bad situation (one I didn't create - Hillary Clinton supporters did that) worse.

If you really want to change things - it's time to clean up the Democratic Party by removing all the money interests.

2016-2017 T-Birds Season ends.

The end result wasn't what they wanted - it will be a learning experience.

The team had a great season, being one of only four teams to make it to the Memorial Cup along with their first WHL Championship. For these things, the boys should be proud.

I am proud of them.

Wow - the things you discover on the Internet!

Update - looks like the link is gone now. Oh well.

It was a live recording of Prince's track for Purple Rain.

What we could've gotten if Bernie Sanders was the 2016 US Democratic Party Presidential nominee.

Single-payer health care for all Americans - how, you may ask?

http://inthesetimes.com/article/20121/where-trump-voters-and-socialists-agree-single-payer

Now, the goal seems a lot closer. In January, Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) reintroduced a bill—originally put forth in 2003—that would create a publicly financed universal healthcare system funded largely by a payroll tax, tax hikes on the rich and a financial transactions tax. Conyers’ bill, The Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act, has widespread backing from unions, medical organizations and progressive groups, and had 104 co-sponsors as of late April.
Bernie Sanders has promised to introduce a single-payer bill in the Senate, leading CNN to predict that “Democrats eyeing the 2020 presidential contest could soon face a ‘Medicare-for-all’ litmus test from the party’s progressive base.” At a rally in March, Sanders said, “Every major country on earth guarantees healthcare to all people … don’t tell me that in the United States of America, we cannot do that.”

'change life horribly forevermore'

... that's how life at times feels for me nowadays.

But that's not exactly where that comes from ... or what it's about.

"If greenhouses gases (GHG) like CO2 emitted by burning fossil fuels, like oil and coal, continue at today’s high levels, parts of Antarctica could break up rapidly with a resultant 6’ of sea level rise by the end of this century, which is double the maximum increase projected by the international panel only four years ago."

Sad to hear about Chris Cornell's passing.

Depression is really a tough thing, especially if you aren't aware, or not able to really seek help.

The worst part is one can never really truly know what goes on in someone else's mind.

How the Democratic Party lost the 2016 US Elections.

(Source: caucus99percent)

Long story short: Corruption of the process by various non-sapient/corporate interests.

Plot thickens indeed.

Yikes!

http://www.counterpunch.org/2017/05/17/seth-rich-the-dnc-and-wikileaks-the-plot-thickens/

Shocking -

That email release, which revealed an internal DNC conspiracy to ensure the nomination of Hillary Clinton for president at the expense of her opponent, Bernie Sanders, wounded Clinton’s campaign and cost US Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz her position as DNC chair.
The federal source, as well as an investigator hired by the Rich family (former DC homicide detective Rod Wheeler), claims that Rich communicated with (now deceased) WikiLeaks director Gavin MacFadyen.

Frankenmustard?

No thanks.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/india-genetic-engineering-the-commercialization-of-gm-mustard-and-the-future-of-agriculture/5590136

GM mustard is being promoted on the basis of the lie that it will increase yield. However, the government itself admits there’s no evidence that it will do so. In a letter to Anil Dave, India’s environment minister, presented below, advocate Prashant Bhushan says that conclusions were drawn and disseminated to mean that GM Mustard DMH 11 is a superior hybrid-making technology that will out-yield India’s best non-GMO hybrids and varieties. But he adds that non-GMO hybrids and varieties out-yield HT DMH 11 hands down.
Bhushan reminds the Indian government that it has admitted that there is no evidence that GM mustard out-yields non-GM. In an affidavit to the Supreme Court, the government stated,
“No such claim has been made in any of the submitted documents that DMH 11 out-performs Non-GMO hybrids.”
