Let's be clear about the 2024 United States Presidential Election.

Anyone running in either the Democratic or Republican brands is beholden to the US capitalist ruling class - no exceptions.

And it doesn't matter how 'progressive' or how much of an 'outsider' they claim to be.

In my time living in this country, I've seen 25 years of corruption and large powerful entities like corporations, the rich, the powerful, the MIC, the establishment media, endlessly tilt things in the favor of their shareholders/donors/investors/owners.

Private profit and greed over public benefit and need - that's capitalism from day one.

In this regard, 'Democrat' and 'Republican', 'Blue No Matter Who' vs 'MAGA Red', liberal vs conservative, are nothing really more different than what is seen in professional wrestling.

Pick your babyface, pick you heel. Pick who you choose to root for.

It's all scripted. The heels and babyfaces are paid by the same promoter, and they make all the money. Everything else is theater.

So this idea that Candidate A, or Candidate B in either 'brand' has any real chance of really improving things for the majority of people is a complete scam because US capitalism doesn't allow for that at all because of the control maintained by the ruling class.

In this capitalist system, only the threat of mass action by a large group of people can force change to happen. And even then, the system will try to obfuscate, delay, de-rail any change. Or, if they can't stop it, they'll try to weaken it, challenge it in court, or buy off enough politicians in the system to roll it back, or have it declared illegal, and thus destroyed.

The reality is ... capitalism is what holds the planet back from a better future for all, and holds us back from taking any meaningful action to survive its greatest threat -> climate change.

And make no mistake ... it's ruling class would like nothing better than to replace the system as well. They just want a system that consolidates their power, eliminates things like choice or democracy, and permanently transfers people's wealth, belongings, and power over to them. This is called fascism.

So we as a planet have a choice in view of a collapsing system of capitalism ...

  • The one the ruling class is moving to implement.
  • A system that serves the interests of all and saves us from our own pending destruction.

Time is running out. Choose wisely and soon.

RIP Harry Belafonte.

A true talent and champion for a better world for all.

Thank you Harry for all you have done.

A very telling essay from 90 years ago that's still relevant today.

https://blackagendareport.com/essay-struggle-leninist-position-negro-question-united-states-harry-haywood-1933

The Negro masses, once the allies of the Northern bourgeoisie (during the Civil War and Reconstruction), have now become the allies of the proletariat. In their struggle for national liberation these masses constitute an important part of the army of the revolutionary proletariat in the struggle for the overthrow of American capitalism. Hence, the victory of the proletarian revolution in the United States and the struggle of the Negro masses for national liberation demand the consummation of a united fighting front of the white toilers and the Negro people against the common enemy, — American imperialism. Such a united front can only be effective on the basis of direct and effective support by the white working class (as the working class of the oppressor nation) to the efforts of the Negro masses to free themselves from the imperialist yoke.

In other words, only by uniting the majority working class - where solidarity overcomes differences - can US capitalism truly be replaced with something better for all.

'Pity City' if you ask the CEO about bonuses, while they keep theirs.

https://www.businessinsider.com/millerknoll-ceo-tells-employees-not-ask-about-motivation-without-bonuses-2023-4

Owen continued: "I had an old boss who said to me one time: 'You can visit pity city, but you can't live there.' So people: leave pity city, let's get it done. "

The company spokesperson told Insider that MillerKnoll won't determine bonuses until the end of its fiscal year in May, and that Owen's bonus would be impacted if the furniture company fails to meet its financial goals. Owen did not respond to a request for comment from Insider ahead of publication.

In MillerKnoll's 2022 fiscal year, Owen was paid about $4.98 million in total compensation, including bonuses and stock awards, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing states that executive bonuses are "consistent with other salaried employees" and are "based upon performance against predetermined goals during the fiscal year."

In case you need ANOTHER reminder of the perils of the crapitalist system we live in ...

... here's a reminder:  https://www.counterpunch.org/2023/04/14/the-case-of-steven-donziger-supreme-court-liberals-help-turn-judges-into-prosecutors/

Once Chevron started to lose the case in Ecuador, a venue it had chosen in the mistaken belief that local courts would be friendlier than those in the U.S., “they came back to the United States where I live in New York and began to sue me in a civil legal case…for $60 billion,” Donziger, who is not rich, told me in an interview some months back. Chevron pursued him relentlessly, alleging fraud and bribery on Donziger’s part. Donziger was also disbarred. Along the way, Chevron bankrupted Donziger. Later, after an unprecedented order to Donziger which the attorney refused in order to protect his clients, Kaplan charged him with contempt. The message to any environmentally active lawyer was clear: if you think you’ve won against a giant oil company, think again, because we will destroy you.

Donziger appealed his criminal contempt conviction from Kaplan to the high court, arguing “that his prosecution violated his rights under the U.S. constitution because private lawyers appointed by a federal judge handled the case against him,” Reuters reported March 27, the day the supreme court declined to consider Kaplan’s ruling. “Two members of the Supreme Court’s 6-3 conservative majority, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh dissented…” against the court’s refusal to consider Donziger’s case. And when you have to turn to very far-right justices to uphold the constitution as a shield against judicial abuse of individual rights, you’re in pretty sad shape. But that’s where we are in the U.S., and those three “liberal” judges are to blame. They could have swung the vote the other way, had they so chosen.

EGAD - you mean they WEREN'T playing live?

Oh my!

Mick Mars was always my favorite guy in this band. Really painful to see this -

The suit states: “During much of the band’s recent tenure, Sixx continually ‘gaslighted’ Mars by telling him that he (Mars) had some sort of cognitive dysfunction, and that his guitar playing was sub-par, claiming that Mars forgot chords, and sometimes started playing the wrong songs.

“Astonishingly, Sixx made these claims about Mars’s playing while he (Sixx) did not play a single note on bass during the entire U.S. tour.

“Ironically, 100 per cent of Sixx’s bass parts were nothing but recordings. Sixx was seen fist pumping in the air with his strumming hand, while the bass part was playing. In fact, a significant portion of (Vince) Neil’s vocals were also pre-recorded. Even some of (Tommy) Lee’s drum parts were recordings. Some fans actually noticed that Lee was walking toward his drum set as they heard his drum part begin.”

The suit goes on: “Mars, at times on the tour, did play the wrong chords, but not due to any cognitive dysfunction.

“He was playing live, and his in-ear monitors were constantly malfunctioning, causing Mars to be unable to hear his own instrument. The fact is that Mars is rarely mocked or criticised online.

On this day in 2007 ...

... This happened -> https://collateralmurder.wikileaks.org/

Overview

5th April 2010 10:44 EST WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff.

Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-sight, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded.

Never forget - this is but one of the reasons why Julian Assange sits in a prison, mere steps away from being disappeared by the American ruling class. Because he and Wikileaks revealed the criminal acts committed on their behalf.

The rich and the powerful fiddle, while the rest of us will burn (or drown as the case may be).

Helped along by the legacy media, no doubt.

https://fair.org/home/projected-collapse-of-crucial-antarctic-current-met-with-media-silence/

Published in the prominent peer-reviewed science journal Nature (3/29/23), the study found that a little-studied deep ocean circulation system is slowing dramatically, and could collapse this century.

And yet ...

Climate activist Bill McKibben (Crucial Years, 4/2/23) argued that Donald Trump’s arrest, which dominated headlines the day the Nature study came out, was far less remarkable as news goes. “Him ending up in trouble for tax evasion to cover up an affair with a porn star seems unlikely only in its details,” McKibben wrote, while the Antarctic story was “one of the most important installments in the most important saga of our time, the rapid decline of the planet’s physical health.”
