A character who's about defending innocent people and saving lives on his adopted planet goes about ACTUALLY defending innocent people and saving lives, and legacy-minded establishment types freak out about it.
Some of the clips I've seen of this film have the character as too whiny and bitchy. But those were clips - any context might be missing.
That being said, I still think that if a major film corporation (which has been a cornerstone of American Empire propaganda since its founding) puts out media that remotely is critical of its origins, suggests that it's desperately wanting the public to hand over their money to them.
I mean, how many times can Warner Brothers (or DC, or Time-Warner, or AOL/Time-Warner, or whatever the fuck they call themselves today) ... tell the same 'origin' story of an 'alien' (the lone survivor who makes it to Earth, and is by remarkable coincidence a white guy) who is raised by two white farmer (installing good ole' American Homeland values of hard work and loyalty) and may critique the system, but ultimately never challenge it?
Besides - calling it 'live-action' is questionable at best. Most of it is computer-generated imagery.
To me, it's a reminder that Hollywood is essentially the de-facto propaganda arm of the US Crapitalist Empire, and it always has been.
Telling an original and entertaining story (without trying to turn it in to repeatable/profitable venture) is beyond their realm.
... can she and her manufactured Buffy Sainte-Marie persona actually face any accountabilities and responsibilities for the lies she fabricated, and all the wealth she accrued posing as a brown Indigenous woman from Canada?
I doubt it. And honestly all these awards and accolades being taken away now, is just the music industry trying to save itself.
