Well look, a US State Government is actually getting something right - banning HFCS.

Indiana legislation seeks to ban high-fructose corn syrup

INDIANAPOLIS — Legislation proposed in the Indiana state legislature would ban the use of high-fructose corn syrup in food and beverage products sold in the state. The legislation was proposed on Jan. 8 and referred to the legislature’s Committee on Public Health. If enacted as currently written, it would go into effect on July 1, 2024, if passed.

I need to read into the details of the legislation, but it's promising.

Another Seattle sunrise.

This time with pink edges on the clouds.

A story the legacy media is trying hard to bury.

https://consortiumnews.com/2024/02/26/caitlin-johnstone-he-burned-himself-alive-to-tur-eyes-to-gaza/

I would never do what Bushnell did, and I would never recommend anyone else does either. That said, I also can’t deny that his action is having its intended effect: drawing attention to the horrors that are happening in Gaza.

I know this is true because everywhere I see Aaron Bushnell being discussed online I see a massive deluge of pro-Israel trolls frantically swarming the comments in a mad rush to manipulate the narrative. They all understand how destructive it is to U.S. and Israeli information interests for people to be seeing an international news story about a member of the U.S. Air Force self-immolating on camera while screaming “Free Palestine”, and they are doing everything they can to mitigate that damage.

As I write this, there are with absolute certainty people digging through Bushnell’s history searching for dirt that can be spun as evidence that he was a bad person, that he was mentally ill, that he was steered astray by pro-Palestine activists and dissident media — whatever they can make stick. If they find something, literally anything, the smearmeisters and propagandists will run with it as far as they can.

That’s what they’re choosing to do at this point in history. That’s what they would have done during slavery, or the Jim Crow south, or apartheid. That’s what they’re doing while their country commits genocide right now. People are showing what they would have done with their response to Gaza, and they’re showing what they would have done with their response to the self-immolation of Aaron Bushnell.

One more reminder - we in the United States don't live in a democracy.

If we did, Julian Assange would be treated as the hero he really is.

https://scheerpost.com/2024/02/26/the-show-trial-against-julian-assange/

Of course, I've said it before - I don't even think he'll make it to the United States.

Well this year's Montreal Canadiens' season is starting to look a lot like last year's.

Injuries.

Lack of scoring aside from the top line.

Defense depth needs to take stride.

I remember the game against the Winnipeg Jets last season and saw when Sean Monahan got injured.

Their season went downhill, and the team wasn't the same.

Now here we are again this season - this time Sean Monahan has been traded (to the Winnipeg Jets) and their season is going downhill again. And riding a 4-game losing streak.

Patterns are interesting when you can learn something from them.

I can see how some people actually like to be hated. It never occurred to me a country's establishment could act the same way.

But then again, is that really surprising?

I mean there's at the very least the same % of narcissists, sociopaths, and psychopaths in the rich and powerful (if not more so) that the rest of the majority of people.

Case in point - > https://consortiumnews.com/2024/02/16/caitlin-johnstone-israel-needs-to-be-hated/

Journalism - as both a profession and as a check on societies and relationships with power - and its last stand.

https://scheerpost.com/2024/02/18/chris-hedges-julian-assanges-final-appealchris-hedges/

Julian’s “crime” is that he published classified documents, internal messages, reports and videos from the U.S. government and U.S. military in 2010, which were provided by U.S. army whistleblower Chelsea Manning. This vast trove of material revealed massacres of civilians, tortureassassinations, the list of detainees held at Guantanamo Bay and the conditions they were subjected to, as well as the Rules of Engagement in Iraq. Those who perpetrated these crimes — including the U.S. helicopter pilots who gunned down two Reuters journalists and 10 other civilians and severely injured two children, all captured in the Collateral Murder video — have never been prosecuted.

If his appeal fails, I suspect he'll never make it to the United States alive.

Watch out for publications who use the term 'greedflation' as a substitute for the real and actual causes of inflation in the US Crapitalist system.

https://fair.org/home/its-important-to-focus-on-big-companies-using-the-cover-of-inflation-to-jack-up-prices/

In this system, corporations hire workers to make products and services to sell, for customers to buy.

  • The workers don't set the prices on the products and services being sold.
  • The customers don't set the prices on the product and services being sold.
  • The corporations set the prices on the products and services being sold.

Now that this reality is known, it becomes obvious that when prices increase on products and services being sold, the corporations make more profit.

That's it. While they may do it in various ways, to say that there's a particular type of inflation that is about 'greed' called 'greedflation' is fucking asinine.

What fucking democracy?

https://blackagendareport.com/democracies-deny-popular-will-while-suppressing-protest-and-dissent

The United States has never been a democracy.

The United States is in the late-stage of late-stage capitalism (aka Crapitalism). This is what inevitably happens to capitalist systems - they are moving a more fascist tendency, and they ultimately fail.

That's what's happening here. Only real difference is that because they are also a 'superpower' it means its collapse will have terrible implications all over the world.

The 1% that controls this system is beyond psychotic in their onward insistence on consuming all resources and extracting as much monetary value from the majority. This is what happens in these systems - rich and powerful psychopaths end up in charge.

This is why we need a system that's free of their greed and their insanity. Otherwise it's game over for all of us humans and other species.

While you and I may not agree on the viability of socialism to thrive as a successor to craptialism ...

... I think that it's managed to survive and even thrive despite all the attempts by the US 1% to de-stabilize and de-legitimize it among the larger populations.

https://consortiumnews.com/2024/02/12/25-years-of-venezuelan-defiance-of-us/

Will 10-07-2023 be remembered as the day the American Empire's collapse was evident?

Patrick Lawrence suggests as much - https://scheerpost.com/2024/02/12/patrick-lawrence-the-crisis-at-the-new-york-times/

When the history of America’s decline as a hegemonic power is written, the Gaza crisis is certain to figure in it as a significant marker in the nation’s descent into a morass of immorality that has already contributed to a collapse of its credibility.

Of course the other big takeway is this - NEVER trust anything from legacy media.

If they say 2+2 = 4, count it on your fingers.

Why should legacy media not be trusted? Oh because of this kind of racist man-hate -

(Max) Blumenthal and Aaron Maté, his colleague at The Grayzone, began scrutinizing The Times’s reports on alleged sexual violence immediately after Gettleman’s first piece appeared Dec. 4. Two days later The Grayzone published a detailed account of ZAKA, the discredited rescue organization that featured prominently among Gettleman’s sources. Three days after “‘Screams Without Words’” appeared Dec. 28, Blumenthal and Maté aired a 42–minute podcast exposing the long list of inconsistencies in it they had by then identified. Two weeks later, on Jan. 10, The Grayzone published a lengthy letter it sent to The Times urging it to address the many defects and ethical breaches in Gettleman’s pieces. “The Times report,” the letter began, “is marred by sensationalism, wild leaps of logic, and an absence of concrete evidence to support its sweeping conclusion.” The Times has since been silent—publicly, if not internally.

The Times could hardly have worked itself into a more awkward corner over the “‘Screams Without Words’” disaster had it tried. It seems to have been some while building and to have exploded as follows into the mess now before us.

Once again - blue no matter who=maga red.

How do I know this? Shit like this -> https://blackagendareport.com/index.php/why-us-reimposing-sanctions-venezuela

The duopoly that's controlled by the 1% here in America seek to keep imperialism, militarism, and crapitalism going because they don't want the majority of people both and abroad to learn that better ways to work. Or, as the author puts it -

In short, sanctions are a tool to prevent states striving for socialism from succeeding.

2024-02-05

And speaking of those whose life hangs in the balance.

There's Julian Assange, a man who's being persecuted and slowly being murdered by the rich and powerful for exposing their crimes.

https://consortiumnews.com/2024/02/04/mary-kostakidis-assanges-very-life-at-stake/

Oh and look - it's Black History Month.

How about some terrible truth?

https://scheerpost.com/2024/02/04/white-mans-justice-is-black-peoples-grief-a-black-history-month-truth/

Capitalism is merely the system which those in control use to brutalize.

It's all about using hatred and violence to ensure that control.

Well look, Thomas Friedman is a bigot after all!

What a scumbag. It's also a reminder that we here in the United States do not live in a democracy.

Because if we did, views like Mr. Friedman has about Muslims - would make him persona non-grata and unemployable anywhere.
