Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price has waived his no-movement clause for the purpose of the team protecting backup Jake Allen in the upcoming expansion draft, sources told The Athletic on Saturday.

The idea behind this move is that the Seattle Kraken will not be willing to take on Price's hefty contract in the expansion draft, sources added. Price, 34, has five years left on an eight-year, $84 million contract, with an annual cap hit of $10.5 million.
