I'd been thinking about this for quite some time.
How did someone (Bernie Sanders) whose political 'brand' has been 'socialist' and 'independent', suddenly, out of the blue (pardon any Democratic brand puns) decide to run for President of The United States in 2016 and 2020?
Simple - he was never what he ever claimed to be - 'socialist' and 'independent'.
He was always a tool of the establishment - there to deflate any real progressive/left-wing movements in US capitalism, and re-direct that potential energy into the 'Democratic Party' brand; where it would go no where.
