Once and for all - metoo loses in a court of law. But what about the system of crapitalism that made it all possible?

What about the establishment media hype?

Remember #girlboss?

Let's not forget that she (Elizabeth Holmes) basically used feminism as a marketing tool to push her vision. That truly sucks because there's a long history of women doing the same amount of work as men, but getting paid less and treated with even less respect, especially in the capitalist work place. And I have a bad feeling her conviction now will result in many in the establishment media to thus criticize any motives and actions supporting women to combat said previously mentioned past actions.

Granted I have issues in general with crapitalism, but will leave those aside for the moment.

No one questions her idea and vision - it's a nice idea and concept.

But ... when that vision hit reality and began to falter - rather than working to develop the reality - she choose to get absorbed with the vision only.

Ironic that a technology all about 'testing' was undone by the reporting of the true reality (i.e. testing).

And when it eventually failed, conveniently everyone around her was to blame except herself.

But let's not forget - her defense was both filled with misandry and racism.

Essentially she blamed the non-white guy. Let's also be clear - she could not have gotten as far as she did if she wasn't young, female, white, bottle-blond, blue-eyed and American.

If I for example had a similar idea and similar opportunity, I'd not get nearly as far as she did.

Now let's be clear - allegations of sexual abuse/actions must and should always be treated seriously.

But they shouldn't never be used as a defense against criminal activity.

"These are really difficult accusations to discuss. On the one hand, it is important to be clear that women do not tend to lie about sexual abuse. And, no matter what you think of Holmes, it is critical to remember that there is no “perfect victim.” You can be a survivor of intimate partner abuse and also a perpetrator of wrongdoing; the two are not mutually exclusive.

On the other hand, it is also important to recognize that there is a long history of white women playing “damsel in distress” to deflect blame and avoid accountability. White femininity has been armed for centuries to defend white supremacy. Society is quick to think of dark brown men as brutes and white women as naive ... "

One thing I would've liked to have seen was convictions for misleading patients. I mean people could've made life-decisions based on these test results that could've resulted in death.

But bringing this back to the larger issue around crapitalism (https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2022/01/05/ther-j05.html):

The saga of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos is a lesson in the nature of the capitalist system in the 21st century. While the courts and the media—as well as the billionaire investors who were bilked—would like the world to believe that Theranos is an aberration and just one bad apple within an otherwise completely healthy economic order, the abuse of science and the resources of society carried out by Holmes between 2003 and 2018 was a harbinger of the deadly reality being wrought on the entire planet today by the capitalist elite in the form of the coronavirus pandemic.
