I always felt the establishment has two basic sides -
One side prefer things remain as they are - i.e. marching in the same steps. This would presumably be the Democratic Party.
The other would want to roll things back to what they were in order to make it easier to rule and steal. This would be the Republican Party.
This article purports to be about the former - https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2020/01/22/pers-j22.html
The interesting thing is - let's assume they are correct in that Sanders is essentially playing the role of sheepdog for the Democratic Party. That is, he talks a progressive game, with the ultierior goal of 'sheepdogging' prospective supporters to 'vote blue no matter who'.
Did that work in 2016 however? I would say no.
And, I think it'll be a lot harder for the establishment to convince voters to do so. Sanders' policies are so effectively public now (Medicare For All, Tuition-free College, End Income Inequality, Address Climate Change), such that I seriously think they aren't gonna accept anything less that now. To offer would less would result in riots, and very violent, non-stop ones.
And, if people are poor, rioting, out of work, etc., that means no taxes, no wealth threat to the rich and powerful.
So it'd be in their interests to appease the masses by giving in and enacting policies that keep the poor and the working alive and well. Even though those are mildly socialist policies, I'm really describing them in a capitalist mindset.
And that's the thing - I think any one but Sanders winning in 2020, will result in pure chaos and disaster.
