Canada and its 'royal' past.

I have nothing against them personally. I am sure they're no different than anyone else.

But that is really the point - they ARE no different than anyone else, so why treat them differently?

Why courtsey and bow and pay them a high sum of taxes simply because their family held a piece of metal and jewels around their heads and claim they decended from high above? There is respecting the past, and then there's leaving it where it belongs - in the past.

Other countries have moved forward from royalty, why can't we?

A grim reminder to progressives in the US about what can happen when you let establishment control one's narrative.

"Opinion polls showed a lead for the Conservatives throughout the campaign. Ultimately, the Conservatives gained 47 seats while Labour lost 59 seats, resulting in a Conservative majority of about 80 seats. Due to Labour's significant losses, Corbyn announced his resignation as the party's leader.[3][4] Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson narrowly lost her own seat, with the party winning only 11 seats despite polling nearly 12% of the vote. Swinson announced her resignation as well.[5] The Conservatives performed very well in Northern England and across the Midlands, winning a large number of seats in that region including the constituency of former Prime Minister Tony Blair.[6]"
