Quote of the day - 06-29-2012

Paul Krugman -

"So the law that the Supreme Court upheld is an act of human decency that is also fiscally responsible. It’s not perfect, by a long shot — it is, after all, originally a Republican plan, devised long ago as a way to forestall the obvious alternative of extending Medicare to cover everyone. As a result, it’s an awkward hybrid of public and private insurance that isn’t the way anyone would have designed a system from scratch. And there will be a long struggle to make it better, just as there was for Social Security. (Bring back the public option!) But it’s still a big step toward a better — and by that I mean morally better — society. "

Hand sanitizer recalled for bacteria

Sanitizer may pose health risk to people with weakened immune systems

Kleenex-brand Luxury Foam Hand Sanitizer is under recall because of microbial contamination.

Health Canada said Thursday that product tests by manufacturer Kimberly-Clark Professional Corporation detected bacteria that may pose health risks to people with weakened immune systems, especially those with cystic fibrosis.

Overheard on a bus - 06-27-2012.

Belated edition.

Repeat performance from the McDonald's employee.

Her mother is a liar - she claimed she only starting stripping when she was nine months pregnant. Apparently the clubs liked her because of her red hair and big chest.

She herself is selfless - as she never let's anyone know what's going on in her life.

P.S. Though it didn't happen on the bus, as she got off she continued her ranting on her LG phone to the caller, and proceeded to walk through a red light and almost get hit by a bus. Got to hand it to her - she didn't appear to miss a beat in her rant.

I'm not sure what's worse with kids ...

The ones where you say something and it goes in one ear out the other ...

... vs those where you say something and it doesn't go in at all.

The might of Monsanto and their Frankenfood force-feeding of America.

Yes. It wins again -

Monsanto Trumps Food Safety and Democracy (Again).

"In a move heralded by food advocates, Sanders introduced amendment 2310 on June 14 this year, after his own state legislature backed out of voting on the popular bill, H.722, also known as the Vermont Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act.

Vermont lawmakers allowed the bill to stall – and ultimately die – in the Vermont House Agriculture Committee in April, after a representative from biotech giant, Monsanto, threatened to sue the state if the bill passed.

Significantly, the Senate vote, 73-26, did not fall along partisan lines, with 28 Democrats voting against the Sanders Amendment."
