What Bernie Sanders represents in 2020.

As the United States heads into the 2020 Democratic Presidential Primaries, most if not all polls are pointing to a Bernie Sanders victory in a number of them; starting with Iowa.

And like four years earlier, there is already a sense of dread in many progressives. We’ve been down this road before.
I could dig up all posts I did about all the ways the Establishment moved to cheat Sanders at every turn, and at every primary. I was there in my own state of Washington and watched and saw how the caucuses were run and how despite an overwhelming number of Sanders supporters, those in charge took every opportunity to siphon off votes and hand them to Hillary Clinton and her campaign.

And we know the Establishment has been running a great scam on the American public for over 100+ years. What scam is that? It’s the one where they present an illusion of choice to voter in the form of two ‘options’. Which of course aren’t forward options at all.

  • One is all about marching people in step and keeping things as they are
  • The other is all about marching people backwards to roll things back to make it easier for the Establishment to steal and plunder even more easily.

None of this bodes well – or does it?

I think Establishment has some serious problems to contend with. They are really worried about the prospect of Sanders.

After all, that’s what the following has been about –

  • ·         Running as many candidates in the Democratic primaries to siphon off as many votes from Sanders
  • ·         The DNC has stacked many of the committees in favor of the Establishment.
  • ·         There are also stories out about the enacted rule of the SuperDelegates stepping in on a 2nd ballot is quietly being changed so that it can happen on the 1st.
  • ·         Giving a billionaire access to the debate stage via bribes, and forgoing the need to have a minimum number of individual donors.
  • Create a fake impeachment process knowing Trump will get acquitted as a way to slow down Sanders' momentum by hanging his vote in such a case against him.

But all of this spells doom for this wing of the establishment, regarding of what fixing and cheating they do for the primaries, regardless of whether they think losing to Trump is preferable to Sanders winning.

Why?

Well to begin with, the popular turn out for Sanders (based largely on his policies and platform) will kick-start the political revolution he hinted at back in 2016. And as Sanders continues to poll high and win primaries and delegates, so will that revolution turn into a movement; a movement that will be based on progressive values. I suspect that Sanders willing in 2020 will turn this into a full-fledged movement that will drive the progressive progress needed into a Sanders Administration.

It’s this movement the Establishment is afraid of, because while they’ve been successful at slowing it down and curtailing it, I don’t think they can stop it now.

If they choose to cheat Sanders again in 2020 like in 2016, I suspect that movement will not only walk away from the Democratic Party, but will eventually turn itself into a new political party. And with the momentum of Sanders and his popularity of his platform behind them, so will all the votes, support, and money will go in time to this new party.
Such a party would eventually attract enough support such that the two-party scam alluded to earlier would fall apart, as it would become visible and obvious to everyone. Those two elements of the scam would be forced to merge into one and take on the new party, and with the momentum and policy demands behind them, would eventually convince the American voter to come onboard.

And in time, that would mean the end to Establishment control.

What they are mulling over now is, how can they curtail, even channel such a movement so that it can not work in lockstep with a Sanders Administration.  How far they are willing to go, will depend on the outcome of the primaries.

We’ll see.
