While I agree with Kyle's central points about Clinton herself, I feel as though the clip doesn't really address the larger issue.
There's no doubt that Hillary Clinton would like to be President Of The United States. I also do not doubt that losing to an orange-haired reality-TV game show host with absolutely no political experience whatsoever, has gotta hurt somewhere.
But if it really did hurt, if she could really do something about it - did she? I mean did she really?
She wrote a book.
The Democratic Party created Russiagate to try and accuse Russia of interfering in the 2016 election - without any real evidence. Yes no evidence I said - why? If there were any actual real evidence, and Hillary Clinton really REALLY wanted to be PUSA - don't you think she and the establishment would've pushed that long ago? Don't you think the evidence would've come out the second there was any hint of it?
That's enough to know that all of it was pure bunk.
So I would assert that despite losing, Hillary Clinton was perfectly content to be bitter about it, and leave it at that.
Why then would she then come back now? I would assert it's for the same reasons she ran back in 2016 ...
... that is, to ensure that Bernie Sanders doesn't get his name on the US Presidential ballot.
That's her only reason for thinking about running now.
Think about it -
Warren
Biden
Buttigieg
Harris
Klobuchar
Booker
None of these candidates (or any of the others) resonate with the progressive base of the Democratic Party. And none of these candidates' platforms appealed to them or any of the other potential voters out there.
But Sanders' policies do. Once they are given a fair and honest assessement, heck even 2016 Trump voters are lining up to support him. It makes me think about a number of stories I heard from folks back then who said they voted for Trump, but would've voted for Sanders if his name was on the ballot in 2016.
So the establishment got their way in 2016 - Clinton or Trump - they would win.
Now ...
Now it's looking like more people are liking Sanders. All those other candidates are looking like pretenders or fakes, or just simply have plaforms taht don't appeal to the majority of Americans, esppeically those who simply don't vote.
Well guess what? That probably doesn't sit well with the establishment.
They don't want to see their influence and dominance over money and power be lost. That would happen if Sanders wins and implements his policies.
So they need to return to the same formula that worked in 2016. This is why Clinton is now considering a run in 2020 - not because she really sincerely wants to, but rather because the establishment donors are so scared of the idea of SAnders winning, that they want her and the DNC to fix things like in 2016.
If that happens - I predict we'll have four more years of Trump.
